A beach in summer. After escaping from his old people's home, an embittered old man persists in building the sandcastle he has dreamed of completing since childhood. Not far away, a crab determined to find its way back to the ocean makes a brilliant escape from a restaurant kitchen, but on the beach its path is blocked by the sandcastle.
