Mathieu Nieto-Juan graduated from the Ecole Supérieure de Réalisation Audiovisuelle de Paris in 2007 with a degree in film directing. He began his career as a technician on film sets (stage manager, assistant director, child coach), while honing his writing and directing skills through various acting and script training courses. He went on to write a number of short films, and his first feature film, Malgré-nous, is about resilience.

The sudden death of his daughter in 2020 forced him to put an end to his career as a technician. Now living in La Rochelle, he is fully committed to writing and directing.

Since setting up his own studio, he has occasionally worked in secondary schools as a scriptwriter and director, passing on his passion for the visual arts to young people. As part of the CNC's Ecris ta série competition, he developed a series with a secondary school class. He currently runs a scriptwriting workshop at the Coolisses association in La Rochelle.

In addition to these projects, in September 2022 Mathieu shot his short film Ensablé in Charente Maritime with the support of CRISTAL GROUP and EPIX STUDIO. This hybrid film combines live action and 3D animation and tells the story of a crab who escapes from a restaurant to find the ocean and an old man who escapes from his old people's home to build the sandcastle of his childhood.

His short film Nono et le soldat was selected for the ScénarioLab at the Maison des scénaristes as part of the Clermont-Ferrand 2023 festival.
